Certificate Program in Social Justice and Leadership
AA Degree in Community Change Studies
Status:
The certificate program has been approved
With support from the President, Dean and a faculty team, the college will be exploring whether to create an AA program in Community Change Studies
Plans also call for exploring collaboration and articulation agreements with one or more four-year colleges so that DeAnza graduates with these backgrounds can continue developing their knowledge and skills in Community Change Studies during their junior and senior years

DeAnza's leadership and faculty are strongly committed to promoting student activism, organizing and community engagement
Because of its large immigrant and second generation student body, DeAnza is developing relationships with academic institutions in Vietnam, China, Mexico and other countries, and those relationships may result in opportunities for student exchange, joint projects and other educational experiences
DeAnza has a very active recruitment program for people of color, sending recruiters into African American and other heavily minority high schools, using Black, Latino and Asian-American radio programs and other media, etc.
