- AS in Community Development and Organizing
Status:
- AS in Community Development approved by MCTC; curriculum stresses organizing as well as, development
- Initial classes began in fall, 2011
- Considering creation of a new nonprofit institute to represent the Native American community

Other Innovations:
- Close working relationship with the Native American community, including emphasis in the curriculum on Native culture, history, needs and assets
- Community Council representing broad range of communities, community developers and organizers advises on the policy and furnishes strong link to communities, internships and job market
- Development of an articulation agreement so that graduates can transfer to earn their BA while taking additional courses in Community Change Studies.
- Exploration of possibility of developing dual credit courses in CO and CED in area high schools
- Plan that this initiative will expand to other communities and colleges in St. Paul and elsewhere in the state
