Type of Program and Description:
  • AA in Community Development and Organizing
Status:
  • AA in Community Development approved by MCTC; now modifying curriculum to stress organizing as well as development
  • Initial classes to start in fall, 2010
  • Considering creation of a new nonprofit institute to represent the Native American community in this program with MCTC and with other educational institutions in the state
Support Services for the Program:
  • Not yet deveioped
Other Innovations:
  • Close working relationship with the Native American community, including emphasis in the curriculum on Native culture, history, needs and assets
  • Joint fundraising plan being developed with MCTC and CLP
  • Plan that this will result in an AA to BA track and perhaps programs in other parts of the state
